Bonnie the Collie (from the beginning)
Puppies have so much to learn. A well-adjusted puppy is comfortable with men, women, children, and other dogs. Today, Bonnie met my nephews. You can see in this photo that her tail is happy and she looks calm. She isn't afraid of the kids. As long as children treat her nicely, Bonnie will continue to like them and want to be around them.
The best way to socialize your puppy is to expose them to the people and pets you want them to meet. They should meet children at your home and away from your home. They should meet men at your home and away from your home. They should meet women at your home and away from your home. If your dog never meets anyone, how will they react when they are adults and have never seen people other than your family?
As a dog owner, it's my responsibility to help Bonnie become comfortable around all types of people. Today, she had a great start. |
