To Parents,Teachers, and Home-schoolers
|
'How to Love Your Dog' is a fun and interactive website for kids who love dogs. The site is based on thematic curricula designed and developed by Janet Wall, a teacher for 23 years, originally for use in the elementary grades. The content has been expanded to include secondary grade levels. This site features over 90 topics and 300 pages. The focus is on kindness, commitment, respect, and responsible dog care. The benefit of children learning about dogs goes beyond the care and training of our canine friends. Lessons on respect, responsibility, love, and compassion toward animals transfer to all areas of a child's life. Kids who learn and practice being kind, gentle, and generous with dogs naturally extend those feelings to people as well. Now nine years old, 'How to Love Your Dog' is receiving 90,000 unique visitors and 294,000 pageviews per month. Thousands of children, mostly ages 7-14, have written in about their dogs on the many interactive and school related pages. Site statistics show frequent and repeat visits are increasing from a worldwide community of young dog owners and their families. Parents and teachers are welcome to print any of the pages in 'How to Love Your Dog' for individual or classroom use. Be sure to check below for lesson plans using the pages on How to Love Your Dog. Thank you! I am tutoring a child who had given up on learning. Your site was a godsend. He devoured it all. This child, who had never turned in more than one or two sentences, wrote a three paragraph story! More Comments |
