Math Project:
Calculating the Cost of Owning a Dog
(The calculations for this project can be based on your real dog or the dog you hope to get.)
Before beginning this project you need to:

Choose the kind of dog you will own, plus:
- the number of years you expect it to live (you are just guessing this one)
- the supplies and services you expect to buy for it (you will be guessing these, too)
- Check the items on What Dogs Cost.

Use the chart below to enter information. Fill in the Item or Service
column first. Don't be afraid to call veterinary offices, pet stores,
animal control or any place you need to do your research. People will
be very willing help you.

Any item or service needs to be calculated according to first time purchased
and repeat purchases if needed. The first couple of entries are examples
to help you get started.

Note: Since the dog house will be bought only once, it only needs to be calculated once.
No entry needs to be made per month or per year for the dog house.

Add everything in the Lifetime column and you should have
a good idea of what your dog will cost over its lifetime.
